Fire in the Sky for Curated Quilts

Posted by Megan Ellinger on

This little 13x13 quilt is my submission for Curated Quilt's next issue.  The theme for this issue is curves and I used the selected color palette to piece together some improve curves.

I've been wanting to try out an idea about including the raw edge of the selvedges in a quilt.  I find their furry little texture really fun and this seemed like a perfect place for it.  After I pieced it, I handquilted it with chartreuse, white, and pink thread.  I decided to go with a facing for this quilt since a binding would be proportionally large.

If my quilt is selected, I'll be shipping it off to Curated Quilts in January!  I don't often make many mini quilts since I don't have much wallspace to display them but that might just change!  This little thing was so satisfying!

  • I love this little quilt and hope/expect to see it in the magazine! The quilting adds such great texture, and I’m happy to see I’m not the only one captivated by fuzzy selvages!
